vertical component of velocity at that time t is vy=usinθ−gt

They will become equal at time t=t∗ if

ucosθ=usinθ−gt∗

which gives t∗=u(sinθ−cosθ)

Now t∗ must be positive. Hence sinθ>cosθ or θ>π/4.

Hence the correct choice is (b).
