History Of D-Patrick

The D-Patrick legacy began 90 years ago in 1934 when Joseph E. O'Daniel (Joe) partnered with George Ranes Sr. to open O'Daniel-Ranes Oldsmobile in downtown Evansville at 402 North Main Street in Evansville, Indiana. Over the next 30 years, the company continued to grow. This expansion included Key Ford in Downtown Evansville.

In 1964, Joe's son, D. Patrick O'Daniel (Pat), joined the family business at the Key Ford dealership. Initially, he was only taking a leave from his career in accounting to help solve a few financial problems at Key Ford. However, he discovered a love for the business. So, with an eye to the future, Joe hired Pat as the company's Chief Accountant. Shortly after, Pat became the General Manager of Key Ford.

In 1971, Pat purchased the Mercedes Benz/Volkswagen dealership at 200 North Green River Road in Evansville. He named the Dealership D-Patrick Imports. During this time, Pat also remained the General Manager of Key Ford.

After a couple of years, Joe sold Key Ford to Pat with the agreement Key Ford would remain downtown. Over the years, Pat grew the business, adding franchises and locations that included body shops and rental cars. Eventually, Pat purchased Joe's remaining dealerships (including O'Daniel Ranes Oldsmobile), and added them to the D-Patrick Inc. portfolio.

Pat later purchased a Honda dealership and moved it to Green River Road. Next, he added the BMW, Porsche, and Audi lines to the Green River Road location. D-Patrick, Inc. eventually purchased O'Daniel-Ranes Oldsmobile Nissan. Nissan relocated to Green River Road.

In 1987, Pat's son, Michael O'Daniel (Mike), joined D-Patrick. Two years later, Pat's son-in-law, Ray Farabaugh, joined D-Patrick. Both completed the NADA dealer candidate program and filled multiple management roles within the dealership for a decade.

In 1998, Pat retired. Mike & Ray became co-presidents of D-Patrick, Inc. Over the years, Mike and Ray have grown the business, adding franchises and locations that included body shops and rental cars.

Mike is the President of multiple Ford locations throughout Indiana including Evansville, Boonville, and Lebanon, Indiana. He also serves as president of the Evanville Honda dealership located off the Lloyd Expressway..

Ray is the President of the eastside Motoplex location that houses multiple brands including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagon, Porsche, and the Nissan dealership. D-Patrick also has two pre-owned vehicle dealerships at Motoplex: Exclusive Pre-Owned and #1 Used.

Many changes have occurred at D-Patrick since Mike and Ray took over building the brand. D-Patrick added the Lincoln franchise to the downtown Ford dealership and moved the Honda dealership to the Division Street Auto Plaza. Around that time, D-Patrick Inc. purchased the Ford dealership in Boonville, and expanded the D-Patrick Body and Glass business into one of the largest in the area. In 2014, D-Patrick Nissan moved from its' Green River Road home of 20 years to a brand new, green facility with over 400 vehicles and 16 state-of-the-art service bays. In 2016, the D-Patrick Ford/Lincoln dealership moved to its current location at Highway 41 and Walnut Street.

In 2021, D-Patrick Inc. purchased Gene Lewis Ford in Lebanon, Indiana, and renamed it D-Patrick Lebanon Ford. The dealership offers access to D-Patrick's entire vehicle inventory, a great service experience, Ford-certified service technicians, parts, and a body shop.

In 2022, D-Patrick Inc. purchased Etter Ford, a family owned Ford dealership in Crawordsville, Indiana. It is now known as D-Patrick Crawfordsville and offers access to D-Patrick's entire inventory line.

Mike's son, Peter O'Daniel, joined D-Patrick in 2016, and Mike's son-in -law, Wolfi Roehrborn, joined in 2018. Both have worked in several management roles throughout the dealership. Peter is the 4th generation family member to run the D-Patrick Ford dealerships. Wolfi is the General Manager of D-Patrick Honda.

Currently, D-Patrick has Ford, Lincoln, Nissan, Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes Benz dealerships in Evansville. D-Patrick also has Ford dealerships in Boonville and Lebanon, Indiana. D-Patrick has used car dealerships in Evansville and in Crawfordsville. There are three body shops in Evansville and a Body shop in Lebanon. D-Patrick Inc. headquarters is in Evansville.

D-Patrick also supports charities in the communities where it does business. D-Patrick is known for excellence in vehicle body work, mechanical repair and maintenance, and new & used vehicle sales and finance. D-Patrick Inc. is very proud of its family business legacy.
