Learn how to relocate your Madden 23 franchise including all of the uniforms, teams, logos, cities and stadiums.
In what is the closest thing gamers have to being able to create a Madden team in the series (outside of modding), relocating a team has brought new life into what has been a notoriously stale Franchise Mode, left largely unchanged for multiple years.
While rigid in its process, there has been little official explanation from EA as to how the process is done, and where a team can move.
Never fear, though, we have every location, every team, and every uniform in our comprehensive guide, which also runs through how to complete a move to a new city.
How to relocate a team in Madden 23 Franchise Mode
To relocate a team in Madden 23 you must be in Owner Mode when beginning your Franchise Mode. When setting up your Franchise Mode, go to ‘Change Role’ and select ‘Owner’ on the screen shown below.
While choosing your League Settings at the start of your career, ensure that the Relocation Setting is set to “Normal,” “Users only,” “Everyone (can relocate),” or “All Users Only.”
In the first two, relocation is only unlocked when your team’s stadium rating is under 20, but the latter two enable you to relocate irrespective of the stadium rating.
If you forget to change the League Settings before starting a new Franchise Mode, you can change them later in the Franchise Settings section under the Options tab. Essentially, you can just change the settings to “Everyone (can relocate),” commence your relocation process, and then turn the setting back to stop any other teams from moving.
It’s recommended that you pick the financial mogul owner to ensure that you have enough money to complete a move.
For an extra challenge, a relocation can be achieved as a “lifelong fan” or “former player.”
The completion of the relocation begins at the start of the next season. You can either play out the season in the original city as usual or simulate to the next season once you’ve finished making your relocation choices.
Starting the process of relocating
Start by entering ‘Manage Team’ from the Team section of the main menu. There, you’ll find the Stadium option, and then select ‘Relocate’ on this screen to get the ball rolling.
Unless you’re opting to play out this season with the old team, simulate week after week until you receive a notification in the “Activities” section of the Home tab, asking you to select your city.
This typically appears in Week 5, but it’s best to double-check each week to make sure. To skip to Week 5 quickly, select “Advance Week” and then “Sim to Midseason,” but during the sim, you have to press O/B when it says ‘Week 3’ at the bottom of the screen as it will carry two more weeks from when you press to cancel.
Select “Start Relocation” to begin your process, with the team name, uniform, and stadium all decided in subsequent weeks.
A word of caution before we get going: these steps need to be followed almost to the letter. For reasons unknown, processes in the change occur on specific weeks of the season that you’re relocating in.
What are the relocation cities in Madden 23?
In Madden 23, you have 19 cities available as potential relocation areas, including those within the United States, such as San Antonio and Columbus, and those in other nations, including London and Mexico City.

- Mexico City, Mexico (Teams: Diablos and Golden Eagles)

- San Antonio, Texas (Teams: San Antonio Dreadnoughts and Express)
- Orlando, Florida (Teams: Orlando Orbits, Sentinels and Wizards)
- Salt Lake City, Utah (Teams: Salt Lake City Elks, Flyers and Pioneers)
- Brooklyn, New York (Teams: Brooklyn Barons, Beats and Bulls)
- Memphis, Tennessee (Teams: Memphis Egyptians, Hounds and Steamers)

How to choose the right relocation city in Madden 23
Each city has fan interest, market size, and personality attributes that can affect your team’s viability, with larger markets more likely to make the most of bigger stadiums, also coming with an increased ability to lure in key free agents.
Fan interest dictates how successful as a team you will have to be to keep the fans coming back.
The better the interest and market size, the better your immediate cash flow will be, but personality determines the city’s patience for losing teams and high merchandise prices.

Picking your relocation team’s name and logo
Next, you’ll be asked which nickname to run with: most teams offer you three names from which to choose.
These relocation nicknames and logos have separate fan interest attributes too, and you can even opt to keep the old mascot in the new city, albeit with a hit to the fan interest rating.
You should note that when moving to Oakland or St. Louis, you can only transfer your old logo and uniform, with there not being any new logos or uniforms to pick.
Mexico City and San Antonio only have two team names and logos to pick from in Madden 23, while the other locations have three.
Selecting your relocation team’s uniform
Simulating to the next week will bring you to the uniform selection screen for your choice of team. These choices are all quite similar for each team, with the differences in patterns and color schemes being subtle at best.
After making your uniform choice and simulating another week, you’ll come to a stadium selection page option.
Picking the right stadium for your relocation team
There are two levels to this choice: you have five designs to pick from (Sphere, Futuristic, Hybrid, Traditional, and Canopy), with size options set to “Basic” and “Deluxe.”
A basic stadium will cost less and be ideal for teams struggling or of smaller interest and market size, while stronger teams, or those with more significant fan interest, can spend to build bigger stadiums.
Once you’ve selected your stadium, the process of completing a relocation in Madden 23 will be complete.
From here, you can either play out the rest of the season and pick players in the next draft, or, to accelerate the process, you can simulate to next season.
The new color scheme will appear in Week 1 of the preseason, as shown above.
