WEST CHESTER, Pa., June 18, 2024 – Multi-City Tour to Shift Perceptions and Celebrate Women Over 50 Across America
QVC®, a world leader in live-shopping, announced the brand is taking its new Age of Possibility platform on the road, with a variety of tour stops planned through 2024. The tour kicked off at Willow Creek Winery in Cape May, N.J. on May 23 with a live remote broadcast and livestream of Over 50 and Fabulous! with Q50 member and founder of Mally Beauty, Mally Roncal. QVC fans were invited to attend and celebrate the Age of Possibility and discover today’s QVC.
Launched in April, the Age of Possibility is QVC’s next chapter designed to embolden women over the age of 50 to seize what’s next from a life stage that is too often ignored and under-supported by mainstream brands. As part of this effort, QVC created the Quintessential 50 (Q50), comprised of QVC hosts, celebrities, activists, entrepreneurs and change-makers, whose experiences and achievements prove the possibilities that this time of life offers for women.
The Age of Possibility Tour will feature events across the country with the next stop taking place in Atlanta on June 22 with entrepreneur, author, TV personality and Q50 member, Kim Gravel, and special guests. For details on this event and others, follow along here.
Stops will feature live QVC broadcasts, discussions focusing on real and honest topics relevant to women 50+ (including wellness, health, relationships, and more),interactive meet and greets with Q50 members and favorite QVC brands and pop-up shopping experiences.
“Our Age of Possibility platform was met with such excitement and positive response, and we are just getting started,” says Vice President of Brand Marketing and Q50 member Annette Dunleavy. “This tour is about championing women over 50 and creating a community where they can come together to share their experiences and celebrate who they are. We are traveling to cities across the country to reflect what age 50+ really is – a vibrant stage of life, full of new questions, changes, opportunities and hopes. By listening to women’s shared experiences and empowering them to live their Age of Possibility, we will be better positioned to champion them and they, in turn, will influence QVC’s future.”
The tour comes on the heels of QVC’s first-ever Age of Possibility Summit at the F1 Grand Prix Plaza in Las Vegas on April 24, where the brand’s Q50 collective gathered for the first time to discuss shared experiences as women over 50 through an intimate day of compelling conversation, creative inspiration and cultural truths.
The Summit featured a Q The Real Talk panel moderated by Liz Vaccariello, editor-in-chief of Woman’s World and First for Women, with Q50 members Billie Jean King, Christina Applegate, Martha Stewart, Patti LaBelle and Rita Wilson. The discussion focused on what this chapter of life has brought them and how they’ve embraced the joy, changes, challenges and everything in between while launching businesses, exploring personal passions, honing new talents, and navigating new beginnings with authenticity. Keynote speakers at the event included Mally Roncal, Carla Hall, Dr. Karen Knudsen, Sue Schick and Tamsen Fadal. Rita Wilson gave a surprise musical performance of an inspiring original song, titled Set You Free, in honor of the Age of Possibility which she performed live at the Summit. Comedian Leanne Morgan performed a stand-up show for the group. As part of the launch, QVC also lit up the Exosphere, the exterior display of Sphere in Las Vegas, debuting its Age of Possibility creative for all to see.
Coming out of the Summit, Q50 members expressed their excitement about what the experience meant to them and their optimism for what lies ahead.
“The Age of Possibility has inspired me to dream about my next chapter at 50+, and I hope it inspires other women to consider the same for themselves,” says actor and author, Kimberly Williams-Paisley when reflecting on the gathering in Las Vegas. “In so many ways, as women over fifty, we have more to offer than ever before – more wisdom, more lived experience, more insight, more courage. It’s easier to be truthful around women who’ve seen it all. The humor is rich. The connection is strong. I hope other women over fifty are similarly inspired.”
“Society has rendered women invisible after a certain age, and we are often overlooked,” says sports icon and equality champion, Billie Jean King. “I left the Q50 gathering with an even stronger belief that women over 50 have enormous influence in our homes, our community and our world. These 50 modern ambassadors are powerful, influential women with new, fresh and innovative ideas, and we all have a desire to embrace opportunity and inspiration. We have so much to say and so much to share and now is our time to move to the front of the stage and use our voices individually and collectively to help the future generations.”
“It was an incredible event that brought accomplished women from all backgrounds and professions together to celebrate being over 50, and I was proud to be included,” says actress and founder of Stripes, Naomi Watts. “The biggest learnings were around how overlooked this consumer is: only 31% of women feel supported by brands and only 23% feel visible in marketing. We are living longer and are at our best stage. This needs to change! That is why I founded Stripes, and I am glad that QVC is celebrating and taking a stand on behalf of this demographic.”
QVC’s Q50 members and events like the Age of Possibility Tour and inaugural Las Vegas Summit are guiding the brand’s efforts to support women in their Age of Possibility by influencing QVC’s programming and product offerings. With each scheduled stop, QVC will be using firsthand feedback and learnings from event participants to inform the content of future stops.
