How many people get selected for Amazon ML summer school? ›

There is no branch-specific criterion for this program. More than 20,000 students enroll in this program every year, out of which 3,000 are selected.

There is no shortage of children that are academically qualified to skip a grade. But you must arrange this with the school and get their permission before you enroll in the summer class. It depends on your school if they allow that.

If it's important to you to bump up your GPA, shorten your degree timeline or save on tuition, summer courses may be right for you. But if you prefer slower-paced learning or need a longer break between school years, you might pass on summer school.

Amazon says it is bringing on 15,000 summer interns this year, its largest cohort ever. Most of them will do hybrid work, the company says in a blog post. Typical internships last 12 to 14 weeks and "mirror a full-time job," according to the company. Amazon plans to hire people in 40 countries around the world.

The selection criteria entail two parts : Part A, comprising 20 multiple-choice questions covering fundamental ML concepts and a math fundamentals test encompassing topics like probability, statistics, and linear algebra. Part B, featuring two programming questions.

Inherently, summer classes increase the chance for you to raise your grade point average (GPA). GPA is the total score of all your grades divided by the number of classes you've taken. The more classes you take, the less each grade will impact your overall GPA - giving those tougher classes a little less influence.

The pace of summer courses is usually accelerated, as they typically compress a semester's worth of material into a shorter period (4-8 weeks, for instance). This means that you might have more lectures, assignments, and exams condensed into a smaller time frame, which can be challenging for some students.

In such cases, poor grades in summer school could potentially ruin your transcript and as a result impact your chances of admission or employment. It is worth noting that some institutions offer the option to retake courses to improve grades and replace the initial poor grade.
